Seniors’ Competition Rules
Perpetual Trophies
All of the above listed are classed as Perpetual Trophies.
In order to take part in Perpetual Trophies, all entrants must have a handicap that is based on: -
- having at least 12 completed cards registered against their name in the previous 12 months, and
- having at least 6 of such cards being from entry into qualifying competitions i.e. not rounds from casual golf.
Members may however take part in the play format of the day for handicap purposes and any parallel competitions, e.g. “Two’s” etc. Summer Medal competitions (April to October inc,) are not classed as perpetual trophies.
See also “Flexible Members”
Flexible Members
All of the above competitions are classed as perpetual trophies for full members only and as such, flexible and other members shall not be eligible to win them. Members other than Full Members may however take part in the play format of the day for handicap purposes and any parallel competitions, e.g. “Two’s” etc. Summer Medal competitions are not classed as perpetual trophies.
Competition Handicaps
All Seniors’ Section Competitions whether listed in this section or not, shall be played in accordance with the World Handicap System current at the time of playing. The Slope Correction, Course Rating and Par for the course played will be used as designated by the WHC in order to calculate the players current Handicap Index to give their Course Handicap. The WHC percentage correction to be then applied for the format of golf being played.
Competition Divisions
All singles competitions shall be divided by Handicap to give as near as possible equal divisions. If 50 players or less, then the field shall be divided into 2 divisions and if 51 players or more, 3 divisions. All pairs or team competitions having mixed handicaps, shall have one division.
Delaney Texas Scramble
- All drive.
- The player whose drive is chosen cannot hit the 2nd shot.
- After the 2nd shot, the player who is chosen cannot hit the 3rd shot.
- Continue in this way until the ball is on the green. Once the ball is on the green, all the players in the team can putt.
- 4 man teams, 4 drives per player.
- 3 man teams, 5 drives per player.
- On fairway place ball within 12” not nearer hole.
- In rough drop ball within one club length not nearer the hole.
- Score each hole (Strokeplay) under the letter of the player whose drive was taken on that particular hole.
Medalford
Medal front nine (nett total), followed by Stableford back nine (points)----subtract back nine points from front nine nett to get result. Lowest total wins.
Strokeplay
The format used for Medals. Strokeplay is where you count the number of shots it takes to play a round of golf. This score is the gross score. The nett score is the gross score minus the player’s playing handicap.
Stableford
Devised by Dr Frank Stableford as a points game. A net score of two over par or more on a hole equals zero points, one over par equals one point, par equals two points, one under par equals three points, and two under par equals four points, etc.
Two Man Texas Scramble
The “6 drive” rule applies.
Bowmaker
Teams of 3. Best two Stableford scores on each hole to count.
