On Saturday the club Men's section had its annual match away at the New Forest GC. The Hanvey/Sanger Trophy was up for grabs over two legs
On a great day for golf, good company and food, every match was keenly fought in a great spirit.
The first Match saw Club Captain Steve Sanger pairing up with this years Seniors Captain, Mike Bartlett who was receiving 21 shots from his partner. A close fought match and with some great putting by Mike saw him hole a 20 foot putt on the last green to secure a halved match.
We then proceeded to lose the next 4 matches although all very tight with all matches going to at least the 16th.
Then our last pair of Tony Braithwaite and David Steward, managed to win their match in another close match by 3&1.
Therefore the score finished 4.5 - 1.5 in favour of the New Forest team lead by Club Captain Rick... All to play for in the second leg at home on the 22nd September...
Thanks to the New Forest for their hospitality and welcome on the day!
