The Ashley Wood (Hardy B Team) v Ferndown Forest
Date: 03-09-16
Match report for the Home and Away fixtures
The final two games of the season pitted us against Ferndown Forest home and away with the away game first. Ferndown Forest has always been a difficult place to go and get a result, which made selection a bit of a headache but that said newcomers to the side for this match Clive Jones and Les Rix won their match 2 and 1 to give us our only win on the day.
Team on the day
David Steward (Team Captain) & Tony Braithwaite
Sam Glynn & Andy Smart
Roger Palmer & Mark Spencer
Clive Jones & Les Rix
Colyn Horn & Brett Townsend
The return leg at home the following week saw a different game in very testing conditions.
First out David Steward (Team Captain) and Steve Fripp managed to hold out for a 2 up win on the 18th. Next out was Clive Jones and David Steward Jnr who swept their opponents away with a resounding 6 and 4 win , third out was Roger Palmer and Ian Elson in his first match of the season securing another win 1 up, Karl Pritchard and Andy Smart went out next and returned a score of all square, finally anchor boys Colyn Horn and Brett Townsend gave us a win of 5 and 4 to secure a team win of 4.5 to 0.5. Great result guys in such testing conditions.
David Steward would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you that have supported and played for the Hardy B side this season with some 26 players featuring this season. It was always going to be a tough act to follow Keith Pritchard’s achievements, but none of this could have been made without all of your help.
Would all team members please keep an eye out on your emails as David will be organising a little shindig once the final league standings have been confirmed in 3 weeks. Please free to come up with any suggestions such as a curry and a few beers in Blandford after a round of golf, or we could even have a curry at the club followed by a few beers.
Finally according to the Team Captain’s calculations we have secured our status in Div 3 BUT if Dudsbury beat Ferndown and Bridport we will get promoted.
Thanks
