On Saturday, The Ashley Wood junior golfers participated in their inaugural match, away at Sturminster Marshall GC, looking very smart in their new club shirts.
With a team of seven, for some, it was their first experience of playing on a golf course, for others it was a first time participating in a match and for a few, it was a case of navigating a familiar course against challenging players.
With the focus on enjoyment and completing nine holes everyone appeared to have fun and completed the course despite the sweltering weather. With the ages ranging from six to fifteen and handicaps for some and not for others this didn’t detract from a great team effort.
Thanks go to parents for caddying and for the “taxi“ service, to Sturminster Marshall for hosting, and to Jon, Claire and Charlie for organising this match
We look forward to a return fixture in August.
