Today saw our Scratch club team take on Lyme Regis in the first round of the Stokes Salver. As usual Lyme Regis brought a strong team to Ashley Wood.
In the morning foursomes our Head Pro Paul Jones with partner Bob Pace led from the front to win the first match followed by Simon and Max Cogdell winning to put the home team 2 points in front. In the final two matches heavy defeats for Spencer Taylor & Jerry Cocking and also Steve Sanger & Tim Norman meant that at lunch the scores were level at 2-2
Once again in the afternoon our Head Pro won the first point quickly followed by Bob Pace to sneak the home team in front but with heavy defeats for Max Cogdell and Steve Sanger the lead soon disappeared.
Good performances from our 'rookies' Spencer and Jerry brought home two halves and a 3&2 defeat by Simon against their Pro and a similar defeat for Tim by 3&2 meant that the Away team won the day 7pts - 5pts..

Unfortunately there will not be a hat trick of final appearances for our Ashley Wood team this year!
